Stephanie Kowal is a Canadian film composer based in Los Angeles. After graduating from the renowned Scoring For Motion Pictures And Television Program at the University of Southern California in 2017, Steph has been actively involved in both the Canadian and American film industries; she was the recipient of the SOCAN Foundation award for Best Original Theme in 2018 and was simultaneously selected as one of eight winning composers for the Los Angeles Live Score Film Festival. In 2019 she was one of SOCAN’s “6 Picks for 2020” featuring composers to watch out for in 2020 as well as the recipient of the “Best Short Score” award at the Halloween Indie film Festival in 2021. She has written additional music for composers such as Tony Morales, Zach Robinson and Brad Breeck for networks such as Disney Junior, Cartoon Network and PBS which has allowed her to hone her craft to network level quality while still maintaining a unique voice of her own such as in her score for the first original Amazon Kids+ program, ‘Super Spy Ryan’ as well as her score for the 95th Academy Awards short-listed documentary ‘Bad Axe’.
